What got me most about this posting was your words ...my young, four year old, son.

FOUR????

How is that even possible? Has it really been that long since we shared a Bright Monday picnic?

I feel old.

Ever since we moved to the farm I've been taking Morgan dog with me when out go out on bike rides through the wheat fields. She loves to be able to run free with no leash.

I've not been in to Petco yet...I may have to go check it out.

I may have to borrow this as it is a great introduction and very fitting.

Yes, indeed, he is a find. Wonderful writer and thinker. Part of a group of influential Bay-area writers in the 60s and 70s that included another terrific writer, probably my favorite, Wallace Stegner.

how strange that the national anthem for a country that has some of the worse human rights problems can be so powerful and can praise so strongly the idea of freedom.

four things I know about burning wood at a camp fire.
the dryer the wood the faster it burns.
solid, hard, dense wood wont spread the fire as fast.
the more oil in the wood the longer it burns like Eucalyptus trees which burn like torches.
All wood burns differently so to know how much you need depends on what wood your using.
