a wee bit of political levity

It was Friday nite as we stood talking after Vespers in a cold parking lot next to Silouan‘s car, which was adorned with a sticker promoting ‘Ron Paul for President; when in the course of our standing there talking that a twisted word-play dawned on me… which of course I verbalized: “Ron Paul? I thot you meant RuPaul.”

LOL…Ru would probably get more votes, though I like Ron’s stance on nuking the IRS. I also think he wants us out of the UN, which will go well with the John Birch voting bloc…

    You know, I really can’t decide which one I’d want *less*… 😛

Sorry, Herman… we have already had an analogous figure as President… eight years of William Jefferson Clinton! Sheesh! Now, if there was a ticket of Vlad Putin for President and Lee Kwan Yoo (of Singapore) for Vice President… that would be a combination to vote for (GRIN).

Okay, I remember a story from long ago that this thread reminds me of… Guy answers his door and is greeted by two men in suits. Before he has a chance to respond, they congratulate him on winning the election for President. It seems in this “imagined” future, computers determine what person best fits the needs and challenges facing the country, and then selects that person from the registered citizenry. If you’re picked, you become president, like it or not. Sort of like winning the lotto, in a weird sort of way. Since then, I’ve always wondered if suitability for president diminishes in direct proportion to a candidates desire for it. This might be the case for many positions of leadership – be the secular or not…
